Early Years

In Reception Class here at Stanton we follow the Early Years statutory framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage which focus on the needs of children from birth to the end of the Reception year at school.

The Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum has 7 Areas of Learning:

The Prime Areas are:

Personal, Social and Emotional Development

Communication and Language

Physical Development

The Specific Areas are:

Understanding of the World

Expressive Arts and Design.

All children in our Reception Class work towards attaining the Early Learning Goals within the 7 Areas of Learning.

We plan purposeful play activities and experiences, indoors and outdoors, with a balance of child initiated and adult led activities. Our children are assessed informally by observation during play activities when they start in Reception Class and informal assessment continues through the year and is reported to parents at the end of Reception year.
