Supporting your child's learning at home - Homework

Reading - Remember to read at least five times a week and to complete the weekly reading homework task.  Please record these in your child's home reading diary. Reading books and reading diaries should be brought into school each day.  Reading books will be changed on Fridays, however, if your child needs their reading book changing before Friday please make sure that they bring it to myself or Mrs Bourne and we will change it for them. Children will receive their Read 5, Hi 5 sticker on a Friday day for completing their five reads and their reading homework task.

Children will be given spellings to complete as homework through 'Spelling Shed'.  Please support your child in learning these.  Please practise your weekly spellings for our spelling tests on a Monday.

Times Tables Rock Stars - at least 25 minutes a week.

Roman Workshop

We enjoyed a day learning about the Romans. We took part in lots of different activities and enjoyed acting out some of the key events in Roman history.

Stone Age Topic Day

We have had a wonderful Stone Age Topic Day. Lots of us came to school in costume and we were then all given a stone age name for the day. We had a go at cave painting on rocks so that we could see what it would have been like to paint on the walls of the caves in the Stone Age. We then tested our knowledge and took part in a tricky Stone Age quiz. We had a go at making our own stone age jewellery and coins.  We did some cave drawings on the playground.

Forest School Day March 2023

We had a fantastic Forest School day where we took part in lots of Easter/Spring activities. We made birds nests, Easter pictures from natural resources outside, learned how to use a hand drill, decorated wooden discs to make Easter decorations, made natural Easter Eggs and Easter masks.

World Book Day

We had a fantastic day celebrating World Book Day. We all came to school dressed as an adjective and explored the book The Word Collector. We also enjoyed story sessions with children's author Fay Evans.

Stone Age Trip to Creswell Crags

Otter Class thoroughly enjoyed their trip to Creswell Crags. We explored life in the Stone Age and have lots of fascinating facts to tell you now! We went down a cave and thought about what life would have been like for people living in the Stone Age. We went into the museum and looked at artefacts that have been found at Creswell Crags that give us clues as to how Stone Age people used to live. Have a look at some photos from our trip.

Forces & Magnets Workshop

We had a fantastic day with One Day Creative learning all about forces and magnets. We did lots of drama and played lots of games to help us with our learning.
