Science
At Stanton Primary School, we follow the Kapow curriculum for Science. This curriculum offers engaging lessons and rich experiences for the children to support them in delevoping their Scientific knowledge and skills.
Lessons focus on a range of skills including:
Posing questions
Planning
Predicting
Observing
Measuring
Researching
Recording
Grouping and classifying
Graphing
Analysing and drawing conclusions
Evaluating
Practical Science sessions are planned into every unit to allow the children to explore the world around them and to be curious. We encourage the children to pose their own questions and to find answers to these through exploration. We also give the children opportunities to explore Science through school visits such as to Twycross Zoo and the National Space Centre.
The curriculum has been sequenced to ensure a progression of knowledge and skills is taught and embedded across the school. Each year group has a "Making Connections" unit of work to draw on skills and knowledge that the children have already learned.
